Longest Night Service – December 21st at 7:00 pm

Attentive to the needs of those who may feel blue at Christmas, you are invited into a sacred space with others who may be living through dark times. This service will be reflective, accepting of where we really are, while holding out healing and hope.

Fourth Sunday in Advent : Lessons and Carols

On the fourth Sunday in Advent, December 18th our worship will include a service of  Lessons and Carols.

DREAM - December 18, 2016The theme for the sermon is  Dream. Even as we begin to see God’s way of compassion and mercy, we also– like Joseph – come to acknowledge our reliance on God communicating with us and transforming us, not just in our waking, conscious lives, but in our sleeping, unconscious lives as well.

Socks and Underwear for Urban Ministries

The United Methodist Women are collecting socks and underwear for Urban Ministries.  We were told that they have completely depleted their stock.  They need all sizes, men, women and children.  Small, medium, large, XL.  During your shopping this Christmas season please think about picking up a package or two or three of socks and underwear.  There is not a better feeling that putting on clean underclothes.  This is important for families who have nothing.  So, please help with this collection!

Collection boxes are under the angel tree at the end of the hallway by the cross.

Thank you for your generous open hearts!

Egg Sunday in January

On Sunday, January 22, we will be collecting eggs for Urban Ministries’ food pantry clients. Our record so far is 75 dozen. You can bring eggs that morning or place them in the refrigerators during the week. It is very special for these people to have fresh eggs and I want to thank you for your continued support of this effort.

Moravian Love Feast

Advent at Parkwood UMCOn Sunday December 4th, the second Sunday of Advent, a Moravian Love Feast will be featured as part of the 11:00 am worship service at Parkwood UMC.

A Love Feast is a service of song during which a simple meal of buns and coffee are served. The buns and coffee are carried in baskets and trays by “Dieners”, or servers, while the choir, congregation and other musicians sing and perform hymns and carols. This is a simple, devout service that has great significance in the Moravian church and has been adopted by churches of other denominations.
