Community Fellowship Opportunities with South Durham Connections

South Durham Connections (SoDuCo) is sharing four fun events!  Come find a place to connect with others and belong to a community of your neighbors:

International Movie Night

Come watch a specially-curated international film and stay afterwards to talk with the others who are present about how that film resonates with the world today. Free snacks! Thank you to Peace Covenant Church of the Brethren for offering their space (and movie, and awesome membership) to the South Durham Community! The building is located at Peace Covenant Church of the Brethren 601 E NC Highway 54, Durham (just East of the I-40 overpass on Highway 54 – look for the YOU ARE WELCOME signs). Film starts at 7 pm on Friday, May 17.

Neighborhood Block Party

Food trucks! Neighbors! Discussion! Games! Bring a canned good to share with hungry people in Durham. The party is on the property of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1200 West Cornwallis Road, Durham (at the corner of Pickett and Cornwallis). The fun happens from 11 am to 2 pm on Saturday, May 18.

Spring Carnival

Music! Games! Food! Fun! Neighbors! Church of the Abiding Savior at 1625 South Alston Avenue, Durham (across Hwy 55 from NC Central Law School and across Alston from the Burger King). A little further south, and another chance to hang out with people who are happy to be there. The carnival is from 1:30-5:20 pm on Sunday, May 19.

And if you can’t make the carnival (or even if you can!), come join us for

Art and Spirit

Refresh yourself before heading back to the work week. Bring your own arts and crafts (drawing, coloring, knitting, crochet, whittling, whatever you like!) or do the weaving project that we will have available. Creativity is relaxing, and creating alongside others can be invigorating fun. Art and Spirit will be held at Parkwood UMC, 5123 Revere Road, Durham in Room 4. There will be signs and friendly people to help you find your way. Sunday, May 19, starting at 6:30 pm. There will be food!

All events are free!
