An Update from Parkwood UMC – March 2020
You may recall that the Parkwood UMC administrative board made the decision to suspend public worship and group gatherings on March 15, 2020 for two weeks. In light of the changing landscape of the outbreak and its impact on our community, please receive our church’s updated response to the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.
The Parkwood UMC Administrative Board looks to the guidance of the CDC and executive offices of our state and nation. Yesterday, Governor Roy Cooper issued an Executive Order (EO120) to close K-12 public schools statewide through May 15. Bans remain in place for mass gatherings over 50 people and called for many non-essential business closures. Our Bishop Hope Morgan Ward asked pastors and churches to not have public worship and gatherings for an additional two (2) months. (Click here to read her letter from March 23, 2020). Therefore, the Parkwood UMC Administrative Board has extended the suspension of our public worship and group gatherings. At this time, we look forward to worshiping as a community again in person on Sunday, May 17, 2020.
Your Admin Board will continue to meet weekly by Zoom. We are actively working to keep our congregation connected and well cared for. Be on the lookout for what this will look like for us. In the meantime, please be at peace. Care for yourselves and others as you are able. Offer grace to yourself and to others. Stay home and limit your physical contact with others. If you need anything, please let us know. Most importantly, let us pray without ceasing during this difficult season. You are all in my prayers.
Grace and peace,
Pastor Anita

Sign up to work at the N.C. State Fair, which will be held on October 17 -27. This is the largest fundraiser for our church and we can’t be successful without everyone’s help. The amount of money that we earn is calculated on the number of slots we fill! As in past years, there will be two time slots available (one day-time and one night-time) for each of the 11 fun-filled days! We will carpool from the parking lot each morning and afternoon. Sign-up sheets are posted in the hallway.

Corridor District Christmas Offering
The 2018 Christmas Offering will support the restoration of parsonages and churches devastated by Hurricane Florence in September 2018. When wind and water closed many doors, churches, despite damage, remained open, serving the needs in their communities.
We hope you will give to this very special Christmas offering to restore our churches to worship and ministry. Thank you for your gifts.
When giving, include “S00263 – Corridor Christmas Offering” in the memo line of your check. You can also give online at https://nccumc.org/disaster/
