School Supplies Needed for Parkwood Elementary Students
Parkwood United Methodist Church is Gathering School Supplies for Students in Need at Parkwood Elementary School.Items listed below can be dropped off at the church in the large tubs at the end of the entry hall.
- Ear buds or earphones
- Construction paper
- Bookbags
- Dry erase markers
- Lunch bags
- Colored pencils
- #2 pencils
- Markers (thick and thin tips)
- Wide-ruled notebook paper
- Pencil box or bag
- Wide-ruled composition books
- pens
- Wide-ruled one subject composition books
- Copier paper

Clothing Donations for Urban Ministries
All donated clothing should be clean and in good repair. No tears, broken zippers or missing buttons or shoelaces, etc.
Urban Ministries will only accept in season clothing.
No dressy clothes i.e. heels, evening wear
Business clothes are accepted
Other items:
- Twin size bedding only
- Clean used or new towels, washcloths
- Clean blankets, twin or double/queen
- (please no quilts or throws)
- Household items i.e. pots, pans, plates, glasses, mugs, flatware, cooking utensils only.
- No electronics or small appliances
- Accessories such as sports hats, winter hats and scarves in season, belts and shoes are accepted.
- Gently used clean bras are accepted.
- New socks and underwear for men, women and children
- Backpacks, suitcases on wheels in good condition (no broken zippers, tears)

Our next Egg Collection Day is July 23rd. Bring eggs and put them in the refrigerator. They will be delivered to Urban Ministries.
Volunteer with the Summer Food Program, June 27th – August 3rd
Parkwood UMC will be the site for the summer food program formerly at Emerald Forest. This is part of our connection with Parkwood Elementary School. The program runs from June 27-August 3. We need volunteers to distribute the food for breakfast (9-10 am) and lunch (12-1 pm) on Mon.-Thur. each of those weeks. This is an opportunity for you to serve the children of our community and does not require a huge commitment of time. Sign up sheets are available in the church hallway.Please join us making sure these children do not go hungry during the summer months.

Mission Opportunities with Urban Ministries
As Christians we are expected to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ and to feed and clothe God’s children. Here are some ways you can do that.
- Donate food and clothes to the Food Pantry and Clothes Closet. Put them under the coat rack in the front hall. See the bulletin board for items we can and cannot take.
- Help in the Clothes Closet and Food Pantry every third and fifth Thursday of the month. We meet in the parking lot at 8:45 am and carpool. We can always use extra volunteers.
- Help serve Breakfast on the fourth Saturday of the uneven months. We meet in the parking lot at 7:45 am and carpool.
- NEW OPPORTUNITY. Help serve lunch on the fourth Saturday of Feb., April, and June. We’ll meet in the parking lot at 11:00 am and carpool.
- Contribute eggs for our quarterly egg drives. The next one will be Sunday, April 17th. If you have not been participating in these mission opportunities I hope you will consider them this year.
