Fundraiser for Parktown Food Hub at City Barbeque

City BBq Durham-Digital Fund p Parktown Food HubThe Parktown Food Hub is holding a fundraiser on Thursday, October 3 at City BBQ on Highway 54. Print a flyer, show it to the cashier, and the food hub will get 25% of your purchase price. It’s delicious, and in feeding yourself and your family and friends you are also helping to feed your neighbors.

That same evening the Parktown Food Hub will be hosting Charisa Knight, an energetic and delightful speaker who will be talking about how the community she felt as a child (including interaction with a food pantry) led her to where she is today, leading a nonprofit that supports an orphanage in Ethiopia. The world is her neighborhood and she is well-versed in being neighbors all over the world! Charisa’s talk will be at 7 pm in the PUMC sanctuary, so go eat some good barbecue and then head over to the church for a good time!

Kidpower South Durham Parent/Child Workshop

In the workshop adults and their children learn and practice age-appropriate everyday People Safety skills, including: walking with awareness, on-line safety, keeping themselves safe from hurtful words, learning to set boundaries on touch and teasing and how to get help from busy adults. We introduce skills using stories and activities relevant to the children’s ages and life situations, then coach adults and kids to practice together. This workshop helps answer the question, “How can we teach our children to be safe without scaring them?” in a fun, age-appropriate, experiential way. In this class, adults are active participants with their child and are expected to stay with their child the entire class. All adults in the children’s lives are encouraged to attend.

Date of Class: June 16th, 2018

10:30-noon (3-6 year olds)

12:30-2:30 (7-12 year olds)

**If you have children in both age groups, contact me and we will decide which class is best for all kids to attend**

Location: Parkwood United Methodist church – 5123 Revere road, Durham 27713
