We are now collecting school supplies for Parkwood Elementary students in need. There are tubs at the end of the entry hall to put your donations in, We will collect until August 20th. See the list of needed supplies.

Our next Egg Collection Day is July 23rd. Bring eggs and put them in the refrigerator. They will be delivered to Urban Ministries.

Parkwood UMC will be the site for the summer food program formerly at Emerald Forest.  This is part of our connection with Parkwood Elementary School.  The program runs from June 27-August 3.  We need volunteers to distribute the food for breakfast (9-10 am) and lunch (12-1 pm) on Mon.-Thur. each of those weeks.  This is an opportunity for you to serve the children of our community and does not require a huge commitment of time. Sign up sheets are available in the church hallway.Please join us making sure these children do not go hungry during the summer months.

Make Desserts for Empty Bowls Event

PUMC has been asked by Urban Ministries to provide some desserts for the annual EMPTY BOWLS event on Thursday, March 2nd. There will be a sign up sheet on Sunday. Desserts can be brought to the church and we will be delivering them on the afternoon of March 2nd. Please put all desserts in disposable containers.

Tickets to the event are now on sale through Urban Ministries.


 


Opportunities to Serve Our Neighbors in January

Food Drop at Parkwood Elementary School, Saturday January 21st

There are two options for participating in this event at Parkwood Elementary School. To help with setup plan to be at the school from 10 am through 12 pm. Food distribution will take place from 12:00 – 2:00 pm

Egg Sunday in January

On Sunday, January 22, we will be collecting eggs for Urban Ministries’ food pantry clients. Our record so far is 75 dozen. You can bring eggs that morning or place them in the refrigerators during the week. It is very special for these people to have fresh eggs and I want to thank you for your continued support of this effort.

Serve Breakfast at Urban Ministries

On Saturday, Jan. 28, we are scheduled to serve breakfast at Urban Ministries.  I will have a sign up sheet on Sunday, or respond to this email if you are able to help us.  We will meet at 7:45 am to carpool.

Making Sandwiches on the Fifth Tuesday of the Month

Parkwood United Methodist Church is signed up to make sandwiches for UM Cafe on the fifth Tuesdays of the month. A number of you responded that you would help.  We have a fifth Tuesday next week, Jan. 31.  Please contact Jan Schwarze if you plan to go .  We will meet at the church parking lot at 9:10 am to carpool.
